The online distance-learning delivery of the course will provide opportunities to receive expertise from the Cambridge Centre for Innovation and Development (CamCID) researchers, material from our partners, and guest lectures.
Part 1: PCert - Artificial Intelligence in Medicine (4 modules): This 4-week PCert course is designed to demonstrate a solid understanding of the fundamental concepts, principles, and technologies related to artificial intelligence and machine learning in the context of medical applications. Part 2: PCert - Laboratory Skills in Bioscience (4 modules): This Professional Certificate (PCert) course will provide you with the knowledge and understanding of key laboratory methods like ELISA, flow cytometry, and fluorescence microscopes. Emphasis on understanding and implementing safety protocols in a bioscience laboratory. Learn the basics of cell culture, including cell line maintenance and aseptic handling. Overview of risk assessment, hazard communication, and emergency procedures. It also includes an introduction to aseptic techniques and microbiological practices. Part 3: Researchers Training Programme (4 weeks): This unique 4-week online training programme is designed to equip you with the knowledge you need to succeed in your career as a researcher in the AI field. Engage in research activities, exploring ethical challenges and making research presentations. Develop problem-solving skills to identify and address challenges related to academic research. Part 6: Research Assistant Position - Online Work (8 weeks): You will work in a voluntary role for 2 months as a Research Assistant at CamCID. It will provide you with further research skills and learning opportunities from other researchers and participate in research tasks. You will participate in online discussions and receive expert feedback on your research work. You will also participate in writing your research paper and receive further feedback to improve your content. You will have the opportunity to utilise your skills and knowledge of AI in medicine research. This part includes a live mentorship session by a UK academic and a senior researcher, which will provide you with an opportunity to receive career guidance and support during your training. Benefit from their wealth of knowledge, ask questions in real-time, and gain insights that textbooks simply can't provide. Learn from other professionals and researchers from other parts of the world through discussion and by analysing their research work, enriching your learning experience and expanding your horizons. This role will be non-paid/voluntary and virtual for 2 months to provide you with practical research experience.
After completing all the parts of this programme, you will be provided with an e-certificate of completion and a virtual internship at Cambridge Centre for Innovation and Development (CamCID).
