Overview

This Specialization will equip you with the knowledge of clinical trials and the regulatory assessments, which medicine must undergo before being released to the patients. To stay competitive in the field of pharmacology, universities and organizations need qualified clinical trials experts with knowledge and understanding of clinical pharmacology and therapeutics who use cutting-edge research methods. This 16-week Specialization is designed to equip you with the knowledge you need to apply in clinical trials and pharmacology research. It will train you to perform research in an international research environment.

Through the virtual internship programme, you’ll gain the essential knowledge and skills required to participate in drug development research and pharmacology. This Specialization aims to provide knowledge of pharmaceutical sciences and advances in clinical pharmacology and therapeutics.

Course Content

The online distance-learning delivery of the course will provide opportunities to receive expertise from the Cambridge Centre for Innovation and Development (CamCID) researchers, material from our partners, and guest lectures. This specialization includes two Professional Certificates (PCerts), 4 -week Researchers Training Programme, and a virtual internship.

Part 1: PCert - Clinical Trial and Drug Development (4 modules)

This Professional Certificate (PCert) course will provide you with the basic knowledge of different stages of the drug development process, including how drugs are discovered, tested, and turned into suitable medicine.

Further details are mentioned on PCert - Clinical Trial and Drug Development page.

Part 2: PCert - Laboratory Skills in Bioscience (4 modules)

This Professional Certificate (PCert) course will provide you with the knowledge and understanding of key laboratory methods like ELISA, flow cytometry, and fluorescence microscopes.

Further details are mentioned on PCert - Laboratory Skills in Bioscience page.

Part 3: Researchers Training Programme (4 weeks)

This unique 4-week online training programme is designed to equip you with the knowledge you need to succeed in your career as a researcher.

Further details are mentioned on the Researchers Training Programme page.

Part 4: Research Training - Virtual Internship (4 weeks)

This 4 weeks of virtual training will provide you with a learning opportunity from researchers at CamCID. It will provide you opportunities to gain research skills with weekly research-based tasks and guidance during the tasks. You will participate in research activities (tasks and analysis) remotely and apply your knowledge of pharmacology research.
