This 4-week Professional Certificate course aims to develop science communicators who are able to apply communication strategies, manage science events, and plan marketing strategies. It will develop skilled science communicators with the required expertise to deliver high-quality science communication activities. This course is designed to equip you with the knowledge you need for the practical delivery of science communication.


Through the final project report, you’ll gain the essential knowledge and skills required to implement science event management and communication strategies. It will provide students with the practical opportunity to apply their learning through the design of a science communication activity.


Course Content


The online distance-learning delivery of the course will provide opportunities to receive expertise from the Cambridge Centre for Innovation and Development (CamCID) researchers, material from our partners, and guest lectures.


Module 1: Introduction to science communication and communication strategies

Learn about science communication and effective engagement. Explore the range of communication and engagement strategies.


Module 2: Science event management

Learn about event management processes including planning, organizing,  and managing conferences.


Module 3: Digital marketing strategies

Explore digital marketing strategies and social media marketing.


Module 4: Final project 

Plan a scientific event in your final project and apply your knowledge of science communication.

Entry Requirements


This is a beginner level course. No prior formal qualification is required. However, a background in STEM fields is highly recommended. All our PCert courses are taught in English. You must have good English language skills.
