To start your industrial career, you need specific business and highly specialised skills to work in a commercial environment. These skills cannot be acquired in the academic and research environment. The goal of this training is to develop these commercial and business skills.

This 8-week training is designed to equip you with the skills you need to become successful in a commercial environment. It will train you to work in an international and competitive business environment. Through the 8-week virtual training, you’ll gain the knowledge and skills required to work in the industry. TRAINING CONTENT

The online distance-learning delivery of the training will provide opportunities to receive expertise from the Cambridge Centre for Innovation and Development (CamCID) researchers and material from our partners.

Module 1 - Developing a business plan: Participants will learn the art of crafting a compelling vision and mission statement that serves as the North Star for their business. Online courses guide entrepreneurs in aligning their aspirations with a clear sense of purpose, laying the foundation for strategic decision-making. You will gain knowledge of writing a business plan. You will develop your skills and learn to develop your own business ideas, marketing strategies, and products. Learn financial planning, guiding participants through the process of creating realistic budgets and forecasts.

Module 2 - Research project management: During module 2, you will gain experience in research management including management of project resources, managing risks, and budget. Guiding participants through the essentials of project planning. Students learn to define project scopes, set objectives, and create comprehensive project plans that act as roadmaps for successful research initiatives. Time and resource constraints are common challenges in research. This module delves into strategies for optimizing allocating resources efficiently and prioritizing tasks to ensure that projects progress smoothly and meet deadlines.

Module 3 - Science communication: This module guides participants in crafting compelling narratives that not only convey scientific facts but also resonate with diverse audiences. In module 3, you will learn about science communication and effective engagement. You will be involved in event management including planning and managing conferences. From conceptualizing themes to creating detailed timelines, learners gain expertise in the strategic planning essential for successful events. This module provides training to ensure smooth operations of the science event.

Module 4 - Building relationships and collaboration: In a world where success is often defined by the strength of connections and collaborative efforts, the art of building relationships and collaboration emerges as the cornerstone for personal and professional triumph. You will create business growth through building relationships or collaboration opportunities. You will learn to manage existing relationships and create new ones.

This training starts with a beginner level and progresses towards the mid and advanced levels.
This training is designed for all levels of students (Undergraduate students, Master's degree students, or Ph.D.).
Our online training is taught in English. Therefore, you must have good English language skills.

Certificate of Completion

After completing all the parts of this Online Training (Virtual Internship), you will be provided with an e-certificate of completion at Cambridge Centre for Innovation and Development (CamCID).
