Postgraduate Research & Teaching Certificate (PGRT) programme will equip you with the knowledge of the biomedical science areas such as cell biology, genomics, genetics, and molecular biology along with practical research experience you need to enhance your CV and career or help you get your dream research position. To stay competitive in the field of biomedical research, universities and organizations need experienced researchers with knowledge and understanding of cutting-edge research methods. This 28-week (7 months) PGRT programme is designed to equip you with the knowledge you need to apply in biomedical research. It will train you to perform research in an international research environment.
Through the Research Assistant role, you’ll gain the essential knowledge and skills required to start your research career. This programme aims to provide knowledge of cell and/or molecular biology and experience of working in a researcher role.
The online distance-learning delivery of the course will provide opportunities to receive expertise from the Cambridge Centre for Innovation and Development (CamCID) researchers, material from our partners, and guest lectures. This programme includes three Professional Certificates (PCerts), 4 -week Researchers Training Programme, a virtual internship, and a 2-month research position.
This 4-week PCert course will provide you with knowledge of the cellular and molecular basis of cancer. It will provide you with the skills to participate in cancer research projects.
Further details are mentioned on PCert - Cancer Biology and Immunology Research page.
This 4-week PCert course will provide you with knowledge of medical genomics and genomic technologies. It will provide you with the knowledge to participate in genomic research. You will explore the application of genomic technologies in medicine.
Further details are mentioned on PCert - Medical Genomics page.
This Professional Certificate (PCert) course will provide you with knowledge and understanding of key laboratory methods like ELISA, flow cytometry, and fluorescence microscopes.
This Professional Certificate (PCert) course will provide you with knowledge of teaching in Higher Education. It will provide you with the skills to teach and design courses using the latest learning technologies.
This 4 weeks of virtual training will provide you with a learning opportunity from researchers at CamCID. It will provide you with research opportunities and professional feedback on weekly research-based tasks and guidance during the tasks. You will participate in research activities (tasks and analysis) remotely and apply your knowledge of biomedical research.
Further details are mentioned on the Research Training in Biomedical Science page.
You will work in a voluntary role for 2 months as a Research Assistant at CamCID and It will provide you with a learning opportunity from researchers at CamCID and participate in research. You will participate in online discussions and receive expert feedback on your submitted research work. You will also participate in writing a research paper and mentorship session. You will have the opportunity to utilise your skills and knowledge of biomedical research. This role will be a non-paid or voluntary position for 2 months to provide you with practical research experience.
This distance-learning programme is delivered on Moodle (a virtual learning platform). There is no exam in the PCert courses and virtual internship. However, you will be given different assignments, research-based tasks, and skills development tasks to complete within the given deadline. It is designed by the CamCID researchers (graduates and researchers from multiple high-ranked universities). Learn more about our research groups.
