Postgraduate Research & Teaching Certificate (PGRT) programme will equip you with the knowledge of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in medicine and teaching skills along with practical research experience you need to enhance your CV and career or help you get your dream research position. To stay competitive in the field of biomedical research, universities and organizations need AI experts with knowledge and understanding of machine learning and biomedical science who use cutting-edge methods like deep learning. This 28-week (7 months) PGRT programme is designed to equip you with the knowledge of AI you need to apply in biomedical research. It will train you to perform research in an international research environment.
Through the Research Assistant role, you’ll gain the essential knowledge and skills required to start your research career. This programme aims to provide knowledge of AI basics and experience of working in a researcher role.
The online distance-learning delivery of the course will provide opportunities to receive expertise from the Cambridge Centre for Innovation and Development (CamCID) researchers, material from our partners, and guest lectures. This programme includes three Professional Certificates (PCerts), 4 -week Researchers Training Programme, a virtual internship, and a 2-month research position.
This 4-week PCert course is designed to equip you with the knowledge you need to apply AI in medicine. You will learn about the history of AI and the components of machine learning.

This Professional Certificate (PCert) course will provide you with the knowledge and understanding of key laboratory methods like ELISA, flow cytometry, and fluorescence microscopes.

This unique 4-week online training programme is designed to equip you with the knowledge you need to succeed in your career as a researcher in Biomedical Science.

This Professional Certificate (PCert) course will provide you the knowledge of teaching in Higher Education. It will provide you with the skills to teach and design courses using the latest learning technologies.

This 4 weeks virtual training will provide you with a learning opportunity from researchers at CamCID. It will provide you research opportunities and mentorship with weekly research-based tasks and guidance during the tasks. You will participate in research activities (tasks and analysis) remotely and apply your knowledge of AI in biomedical research.

You will work in a voluntary role for 2 months as a Research Assistant at CamCID and It will provide you with a learning opportunity from researchers at CamCID and participate in research. You will participate in online discussions and receive expert feedback on your submitted research work. You will also participate in writing a research paper and mentorship session. If your research work is published then all the publication costs will be covered by CamCID. You will have the opportunity to utilise your skills and knowledge of biomedical science and AI in research. This role will be a non-paid or voluntary position for 2 months to provide you with practical research experience.
This distance-learning programme is delivered on Moodle (a virtual learning platform). There is no exam in the PCert courses and virtual internship. However, you will be given different assignments, research-based tasks, and skills development tasks to complete within the given deadline. It is designed by the CamCID researchers (graduates and researchers from multiple high-ranked universities). Learn more about our research groups.

PGRT programme starts at a beginner level and progresses towards the mid and advanced level. A minimum of 12 months of undergraduate level education is required in biology, biochemistry, biomedical science, computer science, or other relevant areas.
All our online courses are taught in English. You must have good English language skills. However, no official English language certificate or no exam is required to get admitted to this programme.
After successfully completing all the parts of this programme, you will be provided with an e-certificate of completion including details of your virtual internship and research work experience at Cambridge Centre for Innovation and Development (CamCID).
Q. Do you offer any discounts or scholarships?
A. Unfortunately, we do not offer any scholarships at the moment.
Q. Can I complete the PGRT programme along with my full-time work or study?
A. The programme can be completed online part-time along with other full-time studies or work. It will include recorded lectures (our internships do not include lectures) and tasks to complete on your own schedule and the deadline for submission of the tasks will be several weeks. However, it is recommended to give 5-7 hours per week for learning and acquiring research skills.
Q. Does it include live mentorship during Research Assistant work?
A. There is an optional mentorship session in the Research Assistant work area. However, the virtual session will be arranged after 17:00 pm UK Time.
