This Professional Certificate (PCert) teaches concepts of Medical Robotics. It will provide knowledge of how these technologies can be deployed into surgery and intervention to improve healthcare. Health organizations need qualified robotics experts and researchers who use cutting-edge robotics technology in surgical environments and healthcare. This 4-week PCert course is designed to equip you with the knowledge you need to apply robotics in medicine and healthcare.
Through the final project, you’ll gain the essential knowledge and skills required to implement robotics in medicine and health research. This course aims to provide knowledge of robots for surgeries, image-guided intervention, and computer-assisted surgery and therapy. This PCert is also a part of our 16-week Specialization + internship programme.
The online distance-learning delivery of the course will provide opportunities to receive expertise from the Cambridge Centre for Innovation and Development (CamCID) researchers, material from our partners, and guest lectures.
Explore the history and potential of robotics within the context of medical research.
Learn about concepts of computer-guided surgeries and therapy. Explore different types of robotic systems and applications.
Explore image guidance in the form of computerized navigation, using either Computed Tomography (CT) or Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) images.
Apply your knowledge gained about the medical robots in the final project report.
UK and International: £129 (total including electronic certificate).
This is a beginner to mid-level course. No prior programming knowledge or formal qualification is required. However, some medicine, biology, clinical research, computer science, and/or mathematics knowledge is highly recommended. All our PCert courses are taught in English. You must have good English language skills.
This course is designed to aid professional development in the field of robotics, robotic surgeries, and robots in medicall research, enabling you to further your expertise within an existing career path or to change career direction, for example, into a researcher and/or robotics expert.
After completing this PCert, you can also progress to our Specialization certificate + internship programme.
CamCID Research Team and Guest Lecturers (faculty members from multiple universities).
May include additional material by our partners
